Description

The barbell standing rocking leg calf raise combines a standing calf raise with a rocking motion onto the heels. With a barbell across the upper back, you press up onto the toes for a calf raise, then rock back onto the heels with toes lifted. The combination trains both the calves and the tibialis anterior.

  1. Position a barbell across your upper back behind the neck.
  2. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart.
  3. Brace your core and stay tall through the torso.
  4. Press up through the balls of your feet, lifting the heels.
  5. Squeeze the calves at the top.
  6. Lower back down through neutral.
  7. Rock back onto your heels by lifting the toes off the floor.
  8. Lower the toes back down. Continue rocking forward and back.
