Description
The smith standing calf raise is performed standing on a small block or plate under a smith machine bar resting across the upper back. The balls of the feet press down on the block to lift the heels. The fixed bar path allows for very heavy calf loading with safety.

- Position a small block or plate under the smith machine.
- Step under the bar with the bar across your upper traps.
- Place the balls of your feet on the block with heels hanging off.
- Unrack the bar by twisting the safety hooks.
- Brace your core and stand tall.
- Press up onto your toes by lifting your heels as high as possible.
- Squeeze the calves hard at the top.
- Lower slowly to a deep calf stretch.
