The basketball shot jump is a plyometric drill that mimics the motion of a jump shot. The athlete dips into a quarter squat and jumps straight up while extending one arm overhead like shooting. It builds vertical jump power and shooting form.

Basketball Shot Jump Instructions

  1. Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Brace your core and keep your chest up.
  3. Hold an imaginary ball at chest level with both hands.
  4. Dip down into a quarter squat.
  5. Drive through the heels to jump straight up.
  6. As you jump, extend one arm overhead in a shooting motion.
  7. Land softly with bent knees on the balls of the feet.
  8. Sink into the next dip and repeat.
