The smith one leg floor calf raise is a unilateral calf raise performed with a smith machine bar on the shoulders. The lifter rises onto the toes of one foot at a time from a flat floor. The smith bar adds load while the single leg work isolates each calf.

Smith One Leg Floor Calf Raise Instructions

  1. Set a smith machine bar at upper chest height.
  2. Step under the bar and place it on the upper back.
  3. Unrack the bar and step out.
  4. Lift one foot up off the floor.
  5. Brace your core and keep the chest tall.
  6. Rise onto the ball of the foot of the working leg.
  7. Squeeze the calf hard at the top.
  8. Lower the heel back down with control. Complete reps and switch legs.
