Description
The dumbbell straight arm twisting sit up is a weighted sit-up where the dumbbell is held with straight arms overhead. At the top of each sit-up the torso twists to one side to bring the dumbbell across the body. The combination targets the rectus abdominis and obliques together.
Equipment Required
Dumbbell Straight Arm Twisting Sit Up Instructions
- Lie on the floor with knees bent and feet flat.
- Hold a dumbbell with both hands and press it straight overhead.
- Keep your arms long and locked out throughout.
- Brace your core and tuck your chin slightly.
- Sit up by curling your torso off the floor.
- At the top, twist the torso to bring the dumbbell across to one side.
- Twist back through center and lower with control to the start.
- Alternate the twist side on each rep.
