Barbell Floor Calf Raise

Barbell Floor Calf Raise

Description

The barbell floor calf raise performs standing calf raises with a barbell across the back while standing on flat floor (no elevated step). Without a step, the range of motion is limited to the concentric portion only — you cannot stretch below neutral. It is a simple setup when no step is available.

Barbell Floor Calf Raise Instructions

  1. Set a barbell across your upper traps.
  2. Stand on flat floor with feet hip-width apart.
  3. Press through the balls of your feet to rise onto your toes.
  4. Squeeze your calves at the top.
  5. Lower back to flat under control.
  6. Without a step, range of motion is limited — only the rise portion.
  7. Use higher reps to compensate for limited range. Aim for 20 to 30 reps.
