  1. Set up a smith machine bar at shoulder height.
  2. Stand under the bar with feet shoulder-width.
  3. Grip the bar wider than shoulder-width with palms forward.
  4. Unrack the bar and lower it to the back of the neck.
  5. Brace your core and keep the chest up.
  6. Press the bar straight up overhead.
  7. Lock out the elbows at the top.
  8. Lower the bar back behind the head with control.
