Description

The elevated seated calf raise is performed seated with the balls of the feet on an elevated surface. The heels drop below the platform for a deep calf stretch then press up to the top. The seated position with bent knees biases the soleus over the gastrocnemius.

Elevated Seated Calf Raise Instructions

  1. Sit on a bench or chair with feet flat on the floor.
  2. Place a sturdy block or plate in front of you.
  3. Rest the balls of both feet on top of the block.
  4. Let your heels hang below the level of the block.
  5. Brace your core and keep your back upright.
  6. Press through the balls of the feet to lift the heels as high as possible.
  7. Squeeze the calves hard at the top.
  8. Lower with control back to a deep heel stretch.
