Description

The prisoner half sit up is a partial range sit up with the hands clasped behind the head. The lifter sits up only halfway, keeping the lower back on the floor. The half range is a useful regression that protects the lower back while training the abs.

Prisoner Half Sit Up Instructions

  1. Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
  2. Place the hands behind the head with elbows out wide.
  3. Brace your core hard.
  4. Curl the upper body off the floor.
  5. Sit up only halfway keeping the lower back on the floor.
  6. Squeeze the abs at the top of the half sit up.
  7. Pause briefly at the contracted position.
  8. Lower back to the start with control.
