Description

Mas wrestling is a traditional strength sport where two opponents sit facing each other with feet braced against a board, gripping a stick between them. On the signal, each pulls the stick toward themselves. The winner either takes the stick or pulls the opponent over the board. It tests full-body pulling strength.

  1. Two opponents sit facing each other on the floor with feet braced against a dividing board.
  2. Both grip a sturdy stick (mas wrestling stick) between them.
  3. On the signal, each athlete pulls the stick toward themselves.
  4. Win by pulling the stick from the opponent or pulling them over the board.
  5. Use full-body pulling — legs drive against the board, back and arms pull.
  6. Maintain grip at all costs.
  7. This is a traditional sport from Yakutia (Sakha Republic, Russia).
  8. Practice with a training partner and proper equipment.
