Strongman Log Lift
Description
The log lift (log clean and press) is a strongman event where you clean a heavy log from the floor to your chest, then press it overhead. Logs have neutral-grip handles inside and are thicker than barbells, making the clean and press mechanics different from barbell work.

Strongman Log Lift Instructions
- Straddle the log on the floor. Grip the neutral handles inside the log.
- Deadlift the log to your lap by driving through your legs.
- Roll the log up your body to your chest — this is the log-specific “clean” technique.
- Once the log is at your chest, dip and drive it overhead with leg drive.
- Lock out overhead.
- Lower the log back to your chest, then to the floor.
- The thick log requires different clean mechanics than a barbell.
- Practice with light logs first. This is a specialized strongman skill.
