  1. Sit on a hip abduction machine with the back flat against the pad.
  2. Set the outer thighs against the leg pads.
  3. Grip the handles for stability.
  4. Brace your core and set the feet on the foot platforms.
  5. Press the legs out to the sides spreading the pads apart.
  6. Squeeze the glute medius hard at the end range.
  7. Hold the contracted position briefly.
  8. Return to the start with control.
