Description

The EZ bar standing French press is an overhead tricep extension performed standing with an EZ curl bar. You press the bar overhead and lower it behind your head by bending at the elbows. The standing position adds core demand and the overhead position stretches the long head of the triceps maximally.

Equipment Required

EZ Bar Standing French Press Instructions

  1. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart. Grip an EZ bar on the inner angled portions with an overhand grip.
  2. Press the bar overhead until arms are fully extended.
  3. Brace your core hard. Keep ribs down and avoid arching your lower back.
  4. Pin your upper arms next to your head. Elbows point straight up.
  5. Lower the bar behind your head by bending only at the elbows. Keep upper arms still.
  6. Lower until you feel a strong stretch in your triceps. The bar should end behind your head.
  7. Extend back to lockout by contracting your triceps.
  8. Repeat for the desired number of reps. Use moderate weight.
