The single-leg calf raise off step performs calf raises on one leg while standing on the edge of a step. The step provides full range of motion (deep stretch below and full contraction above) and single-leg loading doubles the demand per calf.

Single Leg Calf Raise Off Step Instructions

  1. Stand on a step with the ball of your right foot on the edge. Heel hanging off.
  2. Tuck your left foot behind your right ankle. Hold a wall for balance.
  3. Lower your right heel as far as possible for a deep stretch.
  4. Press through the ball of your foot to raise as high as possible.
  5. Squeeze your calf at the top.
  6. Lower under control.
  7. Complete reps, then switch legs.
  8. Aim for 15 to 20 reps per leg.
