Description

The short stride run is a cardio drill where the lifter runs in place with deliberately short strides. The shortened stride forces faster leg turnover and trains the calves and hip flexors. It is a useful warm-up and conditioning drill.

Short Stride Run Instructions

  1. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart.
  2. Set the hands up in a running guard position.
  3. Brace your core lightly.
  4. Start running in place with short choppy strides.
  5. Stay light on the balls of the feet.
  6. Keep the cadence fast and the steps short.
  7. Pump the arms in time with the legs.
  8. Continue the short stride run for the working time.
