The lateral step up with knee drive is a unilateral leg drill done from a box placed to the side. After stepping up, the trail leg drives high to a marching position which adds hip flexor work and balance training.

Lateral Step Up with Knee Drive Instructions

  1. Stand sideways next to a box or step.
  2. Place the inside foot on top of the box.
  3. Brace the core and keep the chest up.
  4. Drive through the box foot to step up.
  5. Drive the trail knee high to a marching position.
  6. Hold the balance position briefly at the top.
  7. Step the trail foot back down to the floor.
  8. Continue for the working set then switch sides.
