The kettlebell single leg step up is a step up performed with a single kettlebell held on one side of the body. The asymmetrical load forces the core to resist side flexion while the working leg builds strength. It is a strong unilateral leg builder.

Kettlebell Single Leg Step Up Instructions

  1. Stand in front of a sturdy box or step holding a kettlebell in one hand.
  2. Hold the kettlebell at the side with arm long.
  3. Brace your core and resist any side lean.
  4. Place one foot flat on the box.
  5. Drive through the heel to step up onto the box.
  6. Bring the trailing leg up to standing on top of the box.
  7. Step the same trailing leg back down with control.
  8. Complete reps on one leg before switching sides.
