Back Relaxation

Back Relaxation

Description

The back relaxation pose (constructive rest position) is a simple restorative position where you lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. It allows the lower back to release naturally without active stretching, decompresses the spine, and is one of the most effective interventions for back tension and recovery.

Back Relaxation Instructions

  1. Lie on your back on the floor or a mat.
  2. Bend your knees and place your feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart.
  3. Position your feet so your knees fall comfortably toward each other or stack directly above your feet — whichever is more comfortable.
  4. Place your hands on your belly or rest them at your sides with palms up.
  5. Close your eyes. Relax your jaw, shoulders, and hips.
  6. Allow the floor to support your weight completely. Let go of any muscle tension.
  7. Breathe naturally and deeply. Stay in the position for 5 to 20 minutes.
  8. To exit, slowly roll to one side and rise gently.
