The weighted overhead press step up is a full-body combo where the lifter steps up onto a box with dumbbells and presses them overhead at the top. The combination builds legs and shoulders together for a strong functional move.

Equipment Required

Weighted Overhead Press Step Up Instructions

  1. Stand in front of a sturdy box with a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder level.
  2. Set your feet at hip-width and brace your core.
  3. Place one foot flat on the box.
  4. Drive through the front heel to step up onto the box.
  5. As you reach the top, press the dumbbells straight overhead.
  6. Lock out the arms at the top.
  7. Lower the dumbbells back to shoulder level.
  8. Step back down with control. Alternate legs each rep.
