Description

The split sprinter low lunge is a low lunge stretch with the back leg long and the hands resting on the floor in a sprinter style stance. The deep position opens the hip flexors and stretches the back leg quad. It is a key part of the runner mobility flow.

Equipment Required

Split Sprinter Low Lunge Instructions

  1. Step one foot forward into a long split lunge stance.
  2. Set the front foot flat with knee tracking the toe.
  3. Lower the back knee toward the floor with the leg long.
  4. Place both hands on the floor on either side of the front foot.
  5. Drop the hips low into the lunge.
  6. Feel a deep stretch in the back leg hip flexor and quad.
  7. Hold the position and breathe slowly.
  8. Switch sides and repeat with the opposite leg forward.
