Description

The seated back twist is a basic spinal mobility stretch performed seated. The lifter sits tall and rotates the torso slowly to one side then the other while keeping the hips facing forward. The twist mobilizes the thoracic spine and stretches the obliques.

Seated Back Twist Instructions

  1. Sit tall on the floor with the legs extended forward.
  2. Bend one leg and place the foot on the outside of the opposite knee.
  3. Set the opposite elbow on the outside of the bent knee.
  4. Brace your core lightly and keep the chest up.
  5. Rotate the torso toward the bent knee side.
  6. Use the elbow to deepen the twist.
  7. Hold the position and breathe deeply.
  8. Release back to center then switch sides.
