Description
Namaskarasana, also called the prayer pose, is a foundational yoga posture where the palms come together in front of the heart in a prayer position. The pose stretches the wrists and shoulders while opening the chest. Held with deep breathing, it serves as a centering practice often used at the start of a yoga session.

- Stand tall in mountain pose with feet hip-width apart.
- Pull your shoulders down and back, chest open.
- Bring your palms together in front of your heart in a prayer position.
- Press the bases of the palms together firmly.
- Pull the elbows out to the sides at heart level.
- Press the fingertips up toward the ceiling.
- Hold the pose with steady deep breathing.
- Maintain a tall spine and relaxed shoulders throughout the hold.
