Dumbbell Side Lying One Hand Raise Instructions

  1. Lie on a bench on your side with the body fully supported.
  2. Hold a light dumbbell in the top hand with the arm hanging down across the body.
  3. Brace your core and keep the body still.
  4. Raise the dumbbell up away from the body in a wide arc.
  5. Keep a slight bend in the elbow throughout.
  6. Lift until the arm is roughly vertical above your shoulder.
  7. Pause briefly and squeeze the side delt.
  8. Lower with control. Complete reps and switch sides.
