Barbell JM Bench Press
Description
The barbell JM bench press is a hybrid lift made famous by powerlifter JM Blakley. The bar lowers in a tucked path that combines a close grip bench press and a skull crusher to slam the triceps with heavy weight. It is a top accessory for big benchers.
Equipment Required
Barbell JM Bench Press Instructions
- Lie on a flat bench under a barbell with hands shoulder-width apart.
- Unrack the bar and hold it over your chest with elbows tucked.
- Lower the bar in a sliding path toward the upper chest and chin.
- Let the elbows travel forward as the bar lowers.
- Stop when the bar is just above the chin with forearms vertical.
- Pause briefly in the bottom position.
- Press the bar back up by extending the elbows and pushing back.
- Lock out at the top with arms fully extended.
