Description

The band twisting overhead press combines an overhead press with a torso rotation. Standing on a band with the ends gripped at the shoulders, you press the bands overhead while rotating the torso. The combination trains the shoulders and core in one rotational pattern with strong functional carryover.

Equipment Required

Band Twisting Overhead Press Instructions

  1. Stand on the middle of a resistance band with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Grip the band ends at shoulder height with palms facing forward.
  3. Brace your core hard.
  4. As you press the right band end overhead, rotate your torso to the left.
  5. Drive through your right hip and rotate your trunk through the press.
  6. Lock out the band overhead with torso rotated.
  7. Reverse the motion, lowering the band end and rotating back to center.
  8. Repeat on the other side, alternating.
