Description
The dragonfly pose, or Maksikanagasana, is a deep seated yoga hip opener performed with the legs spread wide and the torso folded forward over the floor. It targets the inner thighs, hamstrings, and lower back. It is a staple yin yoga pose that opens the hips and calms the nervous system.
Equipment Required
Dragonfly Pose (Maksikanagasana) Instructions
- Sit on the floor with your legs spread wide in a V-shape.
- Flex both feet so your toes point up.
- Sit up tall through the spine.
- Place your hands on the floor in front of you.
- Hinge at the hips and walk your hands forward.
- Lower your torso toward the floor as far as is comfortable.
- Keep your back as long as possible without rounding.
- Hold the pose and breathe deeply, then walk your hands back to sit up.
