The bodyweight wood chop squat combines a squat with a diagonal wood chop motion. As you stand up from the squat, you sweep the arms diagonally across the body in a wood chop motion. The combination builds leg strength while training rotational core power, all without equipment.

Bodyweight Wood Chop Squat Instructions

  1. Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Clasp your hands together in front of your chest.
  3. Brace your core and pull your shoulders back.
  4. Lower into a squat by sitting your hips back.
  5. As you squat, bring your hands toward the outside of your right foot.
  6. Drive up through your heels to standing.
  7. As you stand, sweep your arms diagonally up across your body.
  8. Finish with arms reaching up and to the left. Alternate sides each rep.
